A Little Talk About Books...

Dear Reader,

Over the past couple of years, I've really grown to enjoy reading (this all coming from a child who absolutely despised reading). I can still remember the days when it was time to do silent reading and I would just stare at the spine of the book I was so called "reading" and count to 20 then flip the page. Yes i hated reading that much, and especially in french. Gosh. Looking back to those days, I kind of wish that I had a larger interest in books and building knowledge. So, I decided to write an entry about some tips, tricks and little things I've learned about books that you might find handy.

#1: Thrift Stores and Goodwill

My number one tip is to buy your books at a Thrift store. Well, you might be thinking that its a little weird or a bit off topic of why the Good will is great, but trust me it works. The books at these non-profit organisations are not only usually in amazing condition for second hand books, but are unbelievably cheap! Like 50 cents for a kids book (even a hardcover!) , and I believe like a dollar or so for adult books and other hardcovers. Not to forget these are NPO so all the money is donated to charity! Also, i'm not sure about everyone else, but I feel extremely guilty to give away a book that I spend a whopping total OF 20 DOLLARS ON!! FOR ONE BOOK!! I COULD BUY 40 BOOKS AT THAT PRICE NO TAX WHERE IT'S DONATED TO CHARITY! but you see my friend, 50 cents to charity= GUILT-FREE! Last point on thrift talk: You can find amazing books you would have never found at a Chapters. The treasures that you'll find at these NPOs might be ages old, or written by someone who couldn't find a publisher but wanted their story to be heard. Moving on!

#2: Why read?

The question that young-me always asked my mother and her answer never changed: "because reading makes you smarter." Honestly, you can't really argue with that, because its true. As you read, no matter what you are reading or what's being read, you will gain knowledge on the subject of that certain literature. You may not notice it but you do. Also not to forget that it helps your grammar which will help you in school and at work and even social media!

Whenever I read, I usually fall in love with the protagonist and the story itself. It's also one of the most satisfying thing to read a great end to a story that you will forever love in your heart <3. ANOTHER plus to reading is that, and you may not agree, but it is WAY better that TV and Netflix. Now you must be thinking, "OMG Lizzie, you're delusional. " but in my personal opinion, it has a lot more suspense, more details and better stories. Oh, it's also more realistic. especially if we're talking about non-fiction :)

There are amazing websites and\or apps for reading.

https://www.goodreads.com/ Goodreads is a site/app that is pretty much a book tracker. You can also see what your friends and family are reading, their ratings and much more!

Well guys, this is all for today! My fingers are getting tired and so am I. Have a great day/week and thank you so much for reading my post/update! 'Till next time.
